The federation represents people retiring from public-sector work and supports recreation and wellbeing. It brings older people's needs to decision-makers and belongs to the national retirees' negotiating council.
Membership is through a local association. These associations arrange clubs, excursions, cruises, theatre trips and exercise. The federation publishes the Kelolainen member magazine and online news and travel information.
