This independent public-law body regulates and supervises advocates. It organises continuing education and the advocate examination, which can be taken almost entirely online. The Finnish title asianajaja is reserved for those who have passed the examination and been admitted as members.
Individuals and businesses can use its search service to find an advocate. Training is also open to law firm and legal aid office staff. The body comments on draft legislation, promotes legal service quality and access to justice, and connects the media with experts in over 100 fields of law. A delegation is its highest decision-making body, while a board oversees strategy and operations.
