This nationwide non-profit association works to prevent violence, abuse and mistreatment of older people in Finland. It offers help and support to older people who experience or are threatened by domestic violence, and support to perpetrators too. The national Suvantolinja helpline also accepts anonymous contacts.
Older people and worried relatives or friends can get free professional counselling and conversational support. The association works with other helping organisations in situations of mistreatment and violence, and provides training, peer support groups and information on elder mistreatment. Its Etsivä vanhustyö (outreach work with older people) brings individual preventive social support to older people outside services. Volunteer roles are available, and memberships, donations and testamentary gifts are accepted.
