Founded in 1877, the forest communication organisation explores forests' role in society and invites public debate. It publishes news, press releases and blogs and runs forest.fi, metsapuhuu.fi and uusipuu.fi. It also organises Metsäpäivät, the national Forest Days expert event.
The public can use forest-themed quizzes and tests and subscribe to a roughly monthly newsletter. Its Metsän oppimispolku forest learning-path project serves early childhood educators and teachers. The organisation awards forest-sector merit badges and an annual honorary plaque.
