Founded by homeless people themselves in 1986, the organisation is independent of religion and political parties. It works through advocacy, low-threshold services and peer support, and publishes research-based information on homelessness.
Its VEPA peer and volunteer centre serves warm meals to people with experience of homelessness, while Yökiitäjä provides night-time outreach. People can take part as volunteers, members or experts by experience. Donations also support the work.
