The foundation was set up in 1961 as the pension foundation of Yleisradio, the Finnish public broadcaster, and its employer group. It handles statutory employment pensions and supplementary pension cover for Yle and foundation staff. It pays A-section supplementary pensions and B-section statutory pensions; the A-section has been closed since 1 January 1992. As an investor it is passive and does not use voting rights at shareholder meetings.
The office advises on applying the employment pension laws and the foundation's rules. Customer service is open on weekdays from 9 to 15, pension advisers are split by surname, and Swedish-speaking applicants are served. The office is on the second floor of Iso Paja, and visitors to a booked meeting check in with the caretaker. The rules, board members, annual reports and financial statements are published online.
