Founded in 1627, the Evangelical Lutheran parish took its present form when rural and town parishes merged in 1970. It belongs to the Ylä-Savo parish federation and Kuopio diocese. Activities include family and youth work, a senior club, food aid and a mission second-hand shop.
The parish office provides certificates, genealogy services and funeral assistance. Walk-in therapy is offered for young people, and services can be followed on radio and YouTube. The premises have a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking and toilet.
