Built in 1779, this is the oldest of the current church buildings in North Savo. It stands on a headland that has held three churches. A major renovation in 1927, for the parish's 300th anniversary, changed the pulpit, altar, pews and layout. The church is used for services, church ceremonies and concerts, and in summer it operates as a Tiekirkko (road church) open to visitors. Visitors can tour it in person or virtually, and listen to a guided tour online.
It seats about 839 people and has a sound system, organ and grand piano. The north entrance gives step-free access, and there are 10 wheelchair spaces near the altar plus an induction loop. A spacious car park lies right next to the church, with electric car charging for two cars. The small kitchen suits making coffee, not cooking. The toilet is wheelchair accessible.
