The foundation secures land for recreation, tourism and leisure in South Karelia and maintains hiking destinations, including islands on Lake Saimaa. Routes range from accessible nearby outings to longer trails. Its Rasti bicycle ferry runs on the Saimaa archipelago route and also serves island excursions in summer.
Guidance is provided for walkers and boaters, including use of excursion harbours with saunas. Groups are asked to register visits in advance to help manage maintenance and visitor numbers. Businesses can arrange commercial use of sites through a cooperation agreement.
