The Junior Chamber presents an annual honour to a woman whose active, varied work has raised the profile of her home town. First awarded in 1970, it takes its inspiration from a waltz by Toivo Kärki and Reino Helismaa about a mythical woman by the Vuoksi river.
Nominations can be submitted through an online form. The recipient is announced during the town's celebration day in August. The honour includes a pendant made from stone recovered from the rapids and a traditional Karelian costume.
