The art lending library lets you rent or buy works by professional visual artists, paying in one go or in instalments. Rent is paid monthly and depends on the work's selling cost; a rented piece can be returned or bought outright. According to its website, it is the oldest art lending library in Finland, founded in 1971 by the local art society and now run by an association of professional visual artists from North Karelia. It has operated at Taidekeskus Ahjo since 2021 and has had a branch at Näyttelykeskus Kitee since 2023.
Works can be viewed in the web shop, and viewings can also be arranged by appointment. Rental and purchase agreements are made in person. Common bank and credit cards are accepted, and gift cards are available. Artists can offer works for rent under an agreement, keeping ownership and receiving 80% of the sale amount. An accessible toilet is available.
