The Salvation Army has operated in Finland since 1889 and is a charity, a Christian community and a provider of social services. It works in Finland and internationally, and is present in 134 countries. Help for families with children includes social aid, food aid, gift cards and financial support. The organisation also offers housing services and supported employment, and runs work with children and young people, spiritual work and anti-human trafficking work.
Its iCare charity second-hand shops raise funds to help people in need in Finland, and the Joulupata (Christmas kettle) campaign has been held since 1906. You can support the work with a monthly donation, volunteering or corporate cooperation, and the organisation publishes the Sotahuuto magazine. Local branches operate in many Finnish towns.
