The neighbourhood association works in a residential and former pulp mill district designed by Alvar Aalto in 1936–1939. The area is protected by a town plan and forms part of the Alvar Aalto and Industrial Heritage cultural routes. Residents first moved in during 1937.
The association organises an annual open-house event in private homes and opens the Mankeli community space during summer. Some local apartments are available for year-round accommodation. Kantola, the former manager's house, can be hired for training and celebrations.
