Founded in 1977, the hiking association organises shared trips and events in Finland and abroad. Its roughly 100 members include families, working adults and retirees. Its base is the Koivula log villa in Savisaari by Lake Kallavesi.
The association promotes outdoor recreation, nature awareness and sustainable tourism in North Savo. It belongs to the Finnish Hiking Federation and, through it, Naturfreunde International. Members can use federation and member-society huts from southern Finland to Lapland.
