Founded in 1860, this cultural association promotes craft, design, art and creative industries. Its vocational handicraft school, established in 1884, laid the foundation for today's design academy. The academy offers design-focused basic arts education in craft for children, young people and adults, plus courses and workshops.
Teaching is also available through etäMuotoiluakatemia online. The association rents event, meeting and studio spaces, runs an online shop and is linked to a grant-awarding foundation. Membership applications are approved by its board.
