This local teachers' association belongs to the Finnish Union of Education Professionals and represents around a thousand members from different educational institutions. It liaises with school authorities on employment matters and trains liaison teachers. Committees organise wellbeing, cultural, sports, hiking and craft activities.
Teachers and similar education staff teaching at least eight hours a week can apply for membership. The application also authorises collection of membership contributions and enrolment in the Teachers' Unemployment Fund. Young teachers are encouraged to take part.
