The association works to develop the city centre and strengthen its positive image. Entrepreneurs, property owners and other community representatives can join, and members network through its events, activities and campaigns. Morning coffee meetings are held about ten times a year to discuss current city-centre topics.
Twice a year it runs the Yhen illan juttu campaign, in which city-centre shops and restaurants offer special programmes for one evening. It co-runs the national Keskustateko competition and, through the Dikkaa model, supports property owners and retail users in making street-level premises more effective and accessible. A city-centre vitality index has been measured every year since 2015.
