The South Savo retriever association organises retriever training, including working tests and hunting test preparation. Dogs over six months can join training for retriever aptitude tests. Activities also cover hunting-related retriever work and tracking.
The association holds an annual general meeting and recognises dogs and handlers for their achievements. An annual challenge trophy competition honours results from the previous year. Activities serve owners of Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Flat-coated Retrievers and Tollers, among others.
