The university's regional unit has operated since 2002. Research covers separation science, bioenergy and entrepreneurship, including biological water treatment, algae, nanomaterials for water purification and thin films. Bioenergy work examines biomass supply chains and handling technologies.
Separation science facilities include laboratory and pilot equipment, an algae laboratory and analytical capabilities. The unit operates at the university centre, and its entrepreneurship research supports regional economic development. The entrance and car park are wheelchair accessible.
