Founded in 2000, the family association researches its origins and history, preserves genealogical knowledge and connects people interested in the family. It has about 160 members and belongs to the Finnish Family Associations' Central Union. Family branches are traced to Olli Nyyssönen, who lived in Joroinen in the late 1400s.
The association holds family gatherings and sends members and supporters a newsletter two or three times a year. Publications include genealogy books from 2007 and 2016 and an association history. Members can access information on family branches, and products bearing the association's coat of arms are sold.
