Founded in 1926, the chess club welcomes beginners through to master-level players. It won the Finnish team championship in 1987 and the four-player team rapid championship in 1988. Members have also won individual titles in youth, rapid and correspondence chess and problem solving.
The club holds weekly playing evenings in its chess room. It organises city championships and tournaments, including events with 15+15 and 5+5 minute time controls. Results are published on chess-results.
