Founded in 1999 by the city and technology doctor Ensio Miettinen, the foundation supports and develops arts and cultural activities at Taidetehdas. It seeks funding and maintains a cultural network in cooperation with other operators at the centre.
The foundation is based at Taidetehdas. The centre's art hall, residency and studios are run by municipal cultural services, while tourism and marketing services manage the complex. Website information is available in Finnish, Swedish and English.
