The umbrella organisation for Lapland's village and residents' associations develops village activities, advises associations and represents their interests. A member of the national village association, it organises training and annual village activity days for networking and peer support, and selects Lapland's Village of the Year.
It helps establish registered associations and prepare village plans. It maintains a village hall register and gathers information about closed village schools. Municipalities, associations, foundations and individuals in the region can join. A village affairs officer answers village-related questions.
