This Lutheran parish church stands on a hill that was an older church site. Around 1440 a small stone chapel, the Chapel of St Anne, stood here; it was demolished in 1830. The present single-nave long church was completed in 1832 to a design by C. L. Engel, and the tower on the west gable was added in 1860. The altarpiece depicting the Resurrection was painted by court painter R. W. Ekman in 1849.
The church has about 800 seats. The organ is a 33-stop pneumatic organ built by the Kangasala organ factory in 1936 and thoroughly repaired in 2005. Nearby stands the Marjatta sculpture by Ben Renvall, donated by his mother. The church has been heated by electricity since the 1950s, and a fire alarm, extinguishing system and mechanical ventilation were installed in 1982. Step-free access, an induction loop, a defibrillator, parking and an accessible toilet are available.
