The bakery carries on the traditions of a sugar bakery started in 1949. The company was founded in 1999, and the current bakery building dates from 1985, renovated in 2000. The range includes doughnuts, sweet buns, pastries, rye bread and Karelian pies, with seasonal products for each time of year. Cakes and pastries are also made for parties and occasions.
The company runs three cafés: Silvennoisen kotileipomo, Leivintupa and the Huilitupa café at the central hospital. Its baked goods are also sold in grocery stores in the area. The company's trade name is Leipurit, and its official name is Sokerileipomo Oy.
