Formed in a subglacial tunnel valley, the esker has steep southern slopes overlooking lakes. The area emerged from the continental ice around 11,400 years ago, and ancient shorelines from the Greater Saimaa phase lie about 85 metres above sea level.
A two-part nature trail marked with yellow dots passes a Stone Age settlement, rock outcrops, erratic boulders and Second World War Salpa Line anti-tank obstacles. A connecting path from the village is marked with red and yellow dots. An area geopark guide also introduces the geological site.
