This national park in Tammela, managed by Metsähallitus, was founded in 1956 and is one of Finland's oldest. A well-known feature is Kyynäränharju, a narrow isthmus about a kilometre long that separates two lakes; a gap of about two metres between them is crossed by a bridge. At Korteniemi the traditional landscape and cultural sites are maintained the old way. The forests and shores are home to wildlife such as flying squirrels.
Visitors hike and have picnics here, with routes suitable for children. Facilities include a barbecue site, picnic tables and a public toilet. There are both paid and free parking areas, the entrance and a parking area are accessible, and dogs are allowed.
