This birdwatching tower stands at the eastern end of Iidesjärvi, a lake close to central Tampere, and marks the start of a nature trail about 7 km long. Birds breeding on the lake and in its reed beds include black-headed gulls, little grebes, coots, moorhens, thrush nightingales, and reed and great reed warblers.
Spring is the peak season for birdwatching here. The trail runs through meadows, flood meadows and shoreline thickets. The site is suitable for children, but the tower is not wheelchair accessible and there is no accessible parking.
