This nature reserve lies about 5 km northeast of central Tampere in the Kauppi–Niihama forest area. It covers mature old forest with plenty of dead wood and the species that depend on it. The trails were upgraded in 2019 and fitted with boardwalks.
Start from the Niihama outdoor recreation lodge, about 700 metres from the reserve boundary. An information board stands on site, and the boundaries are marked with plates on wooden stakes. The area works well for hiking and picnics, and the trails are suitable for children too.
