This red-brick neo-Gothic church is the third oldest in Tampere. It was completed in 1879 as a prayer house for the Finlayson factory community at the initiative of factory director Wilhelm von Nottbeck, to plans by F. L. Calonius, and was consecrated on Tampere Day, 28 September 2009. The Hill & Son organ was built in London in the 1850s, with a statue of the Archangel Michael above it.
It belongs to the Cathedral parish and hosts many weddings. Since 1996 it has housed the Children's Cathedral, where miniature worlds tell Bible stories and change three times a year. It seats 220. The step-free entrance is on the Kuninkaankatu side, with an induction loop and an accessible toilet.
