The family business began in 1913, when August and Fanny Leivo founded this bakery. It is the oldest in Tampere still owned by one family, and the fourth generation runs it today. It still stands on its original site, and handcraft is central to production. The range includes breads such as Arina, Ruisleipä rye bread and Jyväjemmari, rolls, buns and seasonal baking. Boltsi, a vegan seed-and-oat patty, won the 2019 Suomalainen Menestysresepti recipe competition.
Café Leivonpesä displays logs from the original building and serves breakfast. There is plenty of free parking, and buses 32 and 29 stop outside. The entrance and toilet are accessible.
