An umbrella organisation for people and groups who want to preserve the memory of Finland's War of Independence. It has 29 member heritage associations across Finland and four foundations, and its founding members include the P.E. Svinhufvud Memorial Foundation and the 28 January Foundation. It is a member of the Tammenlehvän Perinneliitto.
The union publishes Vapaussoturi, a military-history magazine published since 1959 that covers independent Finland, the memory of Finland's wars, and the Civil Guard and Lotta Svärd traditions. Commemorative items such as the Blue Cross memorial cross, medals, badges, grave markers and a Mannerheim statue are sold by mail order, with shipping costs added.
