On the shore of clear Lake Kaukajärvi in Tampere, next to a rowing stadium, this swimming spot has two spacious sauna sections, an older and a newer one. It is run by the swimming club Uinti Tampere ry (UiTa), which organises open-water swimming and swimming lessons and employs several young people every summer. The traditional open-water race across the lake was first held in 1945.
The swimming spot is open all year round, and in winter you can take an ice swim. A kiosk operates in summer, and refreshments are served in other seasons. The newer section can be rented for private use through the booking page on the website, and regular visitors can join a loyalty scheme.
