Three wood-heated cabin saunas on the beach of Lake Suolijärvi in Tampere are open to the public; in summer only the largest one is heated. Between rounds you can cool off in the lake, or in an ice hole in winter. A nature trail circles the lake, and there are ski trails nearby in winter.
Bench places are booked in one-hour slots through the online calendar, but walk-ins get a slot when they pay. Changing rooms, showers and toilets are in the outdoor lodge about 100 metres away, where the attendant hands out locker keys. There is no water tap by the shore, so bring drinks, a swimsuit, towel and footwear. Payment is by card, MobilePay or leisure-benefit apps, not cash.
