This regional patient advocacy association for people with diabetes and their relatives in Southwest Finland is part of the Finnish Diabetes Association. Its subsidiary groups are Saviseudun Diabeteskerho and Vakka-Suomen Diabeteskerho. At the diabetes station in the city centre, adults can get foot care from Valvira-registered foot care professionals, and a mobile foot care unit travels to patients across Southwest Finland. A diabetes nurse gives practical guidance and diet advice and checks blood pressure and blood sugar, including HbA1c. Doctor consultations at the station have ended, and the association says it will announce when they resume.
Activities include peer support groups, recreation, reflexology, solution-focused coaching, relaxation guidance and lectures. Members receive the magazine Sokeripala four times a year. Appointments can be booked online via Nordhealth. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
