Established in 1976, this is Finland's only provider of the Criminal Sanctions Agency's degree. The roughly 16-month programme qualifies graduates for prison guard supervision and guidance duties. Studies cover motivational conversation, fundamental and human rights, criminology, substance and mental health work, crisis management and use of force.
The programme includes substantial paid practical training in prisons. Applicants must pass a fitness test, suitability assessment and entrance examinations. Continuing professional training is available for staff. The criminological library offers lending, the Ellibs online library and publication sales. The entrance and car park are accessible.
