According to its website, this is Finland's smallest professional theatre. It was founded in 1953 as a room theatre by Emmi and Vappu Jurkka and has operated at the same address in Kruununhaka for over 70 years. It stages four to six premieres a year. The repertoire includes many Finnish world premieres and plays written specially for the theatre, as well as British quality dramas and fresh readings of the classics. The theatre director is Tuomas Parkkinen.
Around 30 artistic staff are hired each year, production by production. Performances are intimate, and the house has a bar. The entrance, toilet and seating are wheelchair accessible, but there is no accessible parking.
