Intended as a shared space for everyone in the city, Helsinki's Central Library has a glass and steel structure with a wooden facade and is built to be energy efficient. Its three floors hold about 100,000 works, nine living trees and two places to eat, along with 3D printers, sewing stations, a city workshop, studios for your own projects, gaming services and space to study and work.
Loans are handled through the shared Helmet library network. Meeting rooms and event spaces can be rented, guided tours are available, and the building can be explored online on a 360° virtual tour. Families will find activities for children and a baby care room, and the entrance and parking are accessible.
