The church is named after Bishop Mikael Agricola, who laid the foundation for written Finnish. It belongs to Helsinki Cathedral Parish and rises above the rooftops of Punavuori and Eira. Tuomasmessu, a service for those with doubts, has been held here since 1988, and the Agricolaliike network has operated from the church since 2009.
Regular events include the Agricolamessu service on Wednesdays, weekly masses and an Anglican Sung Eucharist, and a diaconal lunch is served in the crypt. Step-free access is on the Sepänkatu side, and visitors are asked to call the sexton before coming. The car park and toilet are accessible.
