Marie-Louise and Gunnar Didrichsen opened their home, a modern house designed by architect Viljo Revell, to the public in 1965. Set by the sea on Kuusisaari island in Helsinki, the Didrichsen Art Museum holds around a thousand works: Finnish and international 20th-century art and pieces from the ancient cultures of Asia, Persia and pre-Columbian America. Three exhibitions are shown each year, and a sculpture park surrounds the building.
Guided tours run in Finnish at weekends, in Swedish on Sundays and in English on the first Saturday of the month, and tours can be booked. The Museum Card is accepted. Access is step-free, wheelchairs are available and hearing aids are provided.
