Standing on Observatory Hill in Helsinki, this 1834 building is part of the University of Helsinki's science museum. Designed by the architect C. L. Engel together with the astronomy professor F. W. A. Argelander, it was the most modern astronomical research institution of its day, served as a model for other observatories and was also the professor's family home.
Public guided tours explore the observatory's history and the wonders of space. There is an admission fee. It is suitable for children, with activities for them and a baby changing room. The entrance, car park and toilets are accessible, but there is no hearing loop and no café or restaurant on site.
