Run by Luomus, the Finnish Museum of Natural History at the University of Helsinki, this botanic garden has been in Helsinki since 1829. Its plant collection serves research, teaching and the protection of endangered plants. The greenhouses recreate habitats such as rainforest, desert and wetland, and the outdoor sensory garden is designed with visually impaired visitors in mind.
The outdoor garden is free; greenhouse tickets are sold at the door and online, and the Museum Card is accepted. It is warm and humid inside (15–25 °C), so dress lightly. The greenhouse entrance and toilet are step-free, but aisles are narrow. Café Viola serves coffee and lunch. There is no visitor parking.
