This Helsinki animal house, described as the largest of its kind in the Nordic countries, focuses on snakes and lizards and their conservation. The website says it has more large constrictors than anywhere else in the Nordics and one of Europe's largest monitor lizard collections. The black water monitor Mikael, born without a father on 9 April 2020, is, according to the site, the only water monitor born this way in the world's zoos.
Animals are viewed through glass, with an information board at each enclosure. A guide can be arranged in advance, and school, day-care and company groups are catered for. The corridors are wide, and cards and mobile payments are accepted.
