Founded in 1990, this Helsinki language day care centre has been in the same premises next to the Finnish-Russian School ever since. Finnish and Russian are used side by side in daily life and teaching: staff are Finnish-speaking, Russian-speaking or bilingual and generally speak their own mother tongue with the children. Languages are learnt through play, songs, rhymes and fairy tales, and maths, science and ethics are taught in both languages following the early childhood curriculum.
There are 84 full-day and 14 part-day places for children aged 2 to 6. Places are funded through Kela's private day care allowance, a municipal supplement and a monthly family fee. The entrance is step-free.
