Standing on the edge of Hietalahti square in Helsinki, this market hall was completed in 1903 to a design by the architect Selim A. Lindqvist and has been a market hall from the outset. In the early 2000s it spent spells as an organic food hall and an art and antiques hall, and since 2015 it has been known above all for its eateries, serving Filipino, Japanese, French, Italian, Thai and Middle Eastern food.
In summer the eateries spill out onto the square as a shared sunny terrace. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, and lunch menus are posted on the website. The hall is a stop on guided food tours, which groups can book. The entrance, seating, parking and toilets are accessible.
