This Helsinki restaurant traces its history to 1897, when it began as a small kiosk selling food and tobacco mainly to sailors. It is still known for its Baltic herring, and a pan dish from the sailors' heyday remains on the menu. The walls hold ship photographs, sea paintings, model sailing ships, ship's bells and a large compass, and an art wall created with Galleria Orton shows works by Juhani Harri, Kain Tapper and others.
Tables can be booked online or by phone, and groups of more than 20 book by email. The venue is wheelchair accessible, toilets included, and there is outdoor seating. Takeaway is available, and cards, mobile payments and S-Card are accepted.
