This Helsinki-based centre handles all reports of patient injuries that occur in health and medical care in Finland. Under the Patient Injuries Act, it decides whether a case is a compensable patient injury and pays the compensation due. All insurers offering patient insurance in Finland are its members.
Having a patient injury report processed is free of charge. The website also covers patients' rights, such as the patient ombudsman and how to file a complaint, and is available in Finnish, Swedish and English. The office shares a building with Sitra, and the entrance is step-free.
