Founded in 1997, the national association supports adopted people, adoptive parents and prospective adopters. It offers peer support, produces experience-based and researched information for professionals, and advocates for adopted people and families.
Activities include local groups, meetings for families adopting from the same country, children's and youth camps, and adoption mentoring. A member magazine appears four times a year. A Swedish-speaking peer group is available for adopted adults, and staff work in Finnish, English and Swedish. Much of the activity is volunteer-led.
