This politically non-partisan trade union association represents members working for several employers, both locally and nationally. Most work in municipal and public services, with private-sector membership also growing. Its central organisation is STTK, and agreement sectors include municipal services, technical staff, health and social care and private education.
Members can contact their chief shop steward or other representatives about employment matters. Activities include workplace tours, breakfast meetings and an annual general meeting. The book Suurkaupungin väkeä marked the association's centenary in 2019.
