The association was founded in 1988 to serve franchising companies and those interested in franchising. It maintains and develops the Ethical Rules of Franchising, which member chains commit to follow. It organises seminars and training events, publishes the Franchising Suomessa yearbook and hands out awards at the Franny Awards gala. It also runs the Franchising Yrittäjäksi service for recruiting franchisees.
Member chains can have their franchise agreement checked by a lawyer specialised in franchising, with the first check free. Members also get a free half-page presentation in the yearbook and a listing on the association's website. It is a member of the European Franchise Federation (EFF) and the World Franchise Council (WFC), and works with authorities and business stakeholders to develop franchising.
